So, we have been very busy since I last posted...which was such a long time ago! We have been focusing on getting little projects done and now shifting towards outdoor work. This summer we hope to get a fence installed, put decorative stone in the front landscaping, put lattice under the deck, and also finish staining the deck! We've already got the ball rolling on most of the projects-now just to finish them! We built a kitchen island over the winter which really helped finish off the kitchen space. It feels like the island was always meant to be there! We could have had the builders install one, but the cost would have been $1500, whereas we were able to build ours for less than $500 and really I like how ours turned out much better than what the builder could have given us! Here are some pictures:
Life has been super busy since my last post! I took a new job at the end of October so I have been adjusting to that. We had our families over for our first Thanksgiving in our house. And now it is already Christmas time! We are looking forward to our first one in our new home as a little family! I have some photos of my Christmas decor, some new, but a lot is handed down to me from my mom.

I found these pinecones at the Christmas tree farm when we went to find our tree. I just hot glued them to some ribbon I had on hand and used a suction to hang them on the mirror:
Here is our tree at the farm:
And the livins' easy...on our front porch! Love how it is coming together. These are the chairs Tom and I assembled a few weekends ago. The outdoor mat was purchased from World Market. It is a very lightweight material perfect for the outdoors, and it is reversible with the opposite colors on the other side. Score!
We have been unbelievably busy lately! Once spring hit, it was time to do a lot of work around the house! Things started getting finished up by the builders. And we finally got our sod and landscaping towards the beginning of June. Biggie was relieved to find that he now had grass to roam around in!
Most recently we have been working on our landscaping in the front of the house, planting flowers, shrubs, and trees by our porch. Aside from that, I have been slowly purchasing, creating, and refurbishing furnishings for the house. It's finally all coming together and really starting to feel like a cozy home! Tom and I just hung up our vertical blinds on our sliding door that leads out to the deck. I was skeptical at first that they would look totally 90's style, but so far I am pleased with how they look. They definitely block the light and offer privacy which were the two most important things. Also, they are just plain white so they blend pretty nicely with the walls in the dining room that we plan on keeping white so we can hopefully add some board and batten in there eventually!
On the agenda for today is putting together some faux wood adirondack chairs I got for a really good price about a month ago!
Here are some pictures of my knockout roses and hydrangea bush:
We are finally moved into the house!! Wooooohoooooo! We actually got the keys February 19th and from that date it took us a little less than 2 weeks to move everything in. Our first night in the house was February 28th. Since then we've done a lot of work in the form of hanging window treatments/hardware, hanging light fixtures and ceiling fans, painting, and just all around organizing! We just got our driveway concrete driveway poured this week so I will need to add updated pictures of the exterior once the landscaping is installed. The builders were holding off on driveways and landscaping until the ground was thawed!

Going in for the first time as a homeowner!:

Dining room when we first moved in. It looks much different now seeing as we changed out the light fixture for one I found on sale at Lowes, and we moved in the china hutch!(Will post updated pictures soon):
Finally we were able to walk through the house again. We got to see our cabinets installed and the stair railing is now in. This week the counter tops and light fixtures are supposed to be installed. In addition, the siding is supposed to start by the end of this week!

The drywall is finally all up, as are the shingles. Hopefully siding will be next!

Snow covered deck (still waiting on stairs):
There have been some updates since my last post, although not all visible. HVAC, plumbing, and insulation have all been installed. Most of the windows have been installed. The upstairs window is not in yet because we are waiting for drywall to be brought in through there. Also, we decided we wanted a window in the laundry room, which is an add-on that we are waiting for. The garage door was put up, and the deck is up with the exception of the stairs. Didn't get a chance to snap a picture of the deck, but I will soon! In addition, I have been able to work on some projects including reupholstering the two end chairs for our dining table, and painting the mirror for the powder room.
Garage door put on (so glad we went with the insulated one with windows!):
Here is a picture of the footers for the deck (which is now up, but no picture yet!):
Here is the fabric I chose for two of the dining room chairs (the other chairs will be slipcovered, and we will be using a bench on one side of the table):
Here is the bench for the one side of the dining table, along with a pillow that is my inspiration for the colors that we will be using throughout the house..neutrals with navy blue:
Today we had our first snow of the season. Had to get a shot of the house with the first snow on it! Plus, the tarp was added to the roof, but no shingles yet.
"Decorate Purposefully, DIY Frugally" is my motto for helping turn our newly constructed house into a home. This is where I document the home projects my fiance and I are tackling along with our fur-baby bulldog!
