Back again after months long hiatus...you know, the usual! Ha! In all seriousness, I would like to try to get back to some sort of routine blogging. That may just be a pipe dream, but one can try, right? I am hoping creating a sort of series like this first "Style Report" will help me to get on track with creating content. Let's jump right in shall we?
Something I've noticed about my personal style is that it is, first and foremost ,a collection of items that I love. That being said, it doesn't necessarily fall into one category of style or design. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. I think the best style is one that resonates with you, even if it doesn't make sense to someone else. I believe the items I offer in my Etsy shop reflect my personal taste. Some boho, some traditional, some metallics, and some natural materials. The basis for the items I bring into my own home usually have to meet the one of the following criteria 1| nature-inspired 2| metallic 3| earth-tones 4| reminiscent of something good in life. (Bonus points if it incorporates more than 1 of the criteria!) My idea for these "Style Report" series is the thought that maybe your style isn't completely bohemian or traditional or transitional, but you can still incorporate individual elements of these different styles to create one that is uniquely you! Let's take a look:
These adorable brass quails are a prime example of a "bonus points" item...nature-inspired AND metallic! Vintage brass items are an excellent way to dress up a boring bookcase by giving it some depth with a different element. Bohemian style, in my eyes, definitely includes pretty patina-ed shine!
Baskets. Baskets. Baskets. For me, no bohemian style is complete without some woven baskets. This one is a "bonus points" item in my eyes since it is nature-inspired (flower design) and made from organic natural materials! Bohemian to me means beautiful, functional decor, which baskets fit the bill for! Baskets are versatile in the sense that they can be used as intended, to hold/corral everyday items OR you can cluster them together on a wall to create a show-stopping feature.
Pottery! The 3rd element of bohemian style, in my book. And lots of it! Pottery, whether it be old or new just screams casual, home-y, comfort. I had picked up this pottery statue because I imagined him in a setting mixed among plants and other natural materials to create a serene inviting space, which I think his form and color lends well to.
Can you get anymore natural than bamboo? These trays were a no-brainer pick for me since they are completely versatile and totally boho! Natural, organic materials from the Earth will always be a cornerstone of Bohemian style. Trays are a great way to incorporate this aesthetic into your home because they are not fussy, and not too obviously vying for attention from the observer. Trays like this set are in excellent way to transition your decor because they allow you to layer and subtly introduce boho to your home!
Hope you enjoyed this first "Style Report"! Like I said, I plan to be back with more blogging to give you some inspiration for your own home. I would love for you to PIN any of the above images if they helped or inspired you in any way :) Please leave a comment if you have any suggestions for other "Style Reports"!
